Simulating the development of residential areas of the city of Vienna

This program simulates the development of residential areas of the city of Vienna from 1888 to 2001. At the simulation model the cell grid of the CA represents the spatial structure of the city. The resolution of the basic grid corresponds to the configuration that was used at the data ascertainment.

A potential field is used for the calculation of the population density at a location (a grid cell) taking into consideration the population density in the neighbouring locations (neighbouring cells). Which areas of the potential gradient will be settled with a certain probability in the next time step, can be defined with the potential field in principle.
